Message from the NAYDO Chair

YEAR-ROUND LEARNING AND GLOBAL CONNECTION

Dear NAYDO Members,

The 2024 NAYDO Conference is a wrap, and now we’re looking ahead to the rest of this year. Don’t forget we’re more than a conference: NAYDO offers year-round learning opportunities with webinars, networks, and NAYDO Academies. Take advantage of your membership by encouraging staff and volunteers to participate in these events.

Thank you to each person who made the Conference a success―the Denver Host Y team and board chair, the conference planning committee and onsite volunteers, outstanding presenters, exhibitors and sponsors, and many others behind the scenes. And, a shout out to the 100+ staff and volunteers from Canada who attended.

I was especially inspired by this year’s international delegation, 23 attendees from nine countries! Their commitment is exceptional, and for many Ys around the world, their immediate need is fundraising for sustainability. Watch this short video that showcases international participants. It demonstrates NAYDO’s vital role in advancing philanthropy globally. Thanks, Han Lee, Y-USA Global Advancement Manager, for producing the video.

Keep reading for upcoming events and find out more about the 2025 NAYDO Conference in St. Louis. Although conference registration does not open until  September, over 500 hotel rooms have been booked already, so reservations are definitely open and remember everyone is walking to the convention center this year!

With gratitude,
Carolyn Grady, NAYDO Chair
SVP, Chief Development Officer, YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh

TAKE THE NAYDO CAPITAL CAMPAIGN SURVEY

NAYDO is partnering with Capital Campaign Pro to conduct a survey that will provide YMCA-specific data on capital or comprehensive campaigns.

Please complete this survey if your Y is:
• Thinking about a campaign in the future
• Currently in a campaign
or
• Has finished a campaign within the past two years

The survey should be completed by the Development Director/CDO or Executive Director/CEO. One survey per YMCA. Take the survey today. The October 17 webinar will reveal the results and learnings.

The Power of Partnerships: A Case Study of the Calgary Flames Grade 6 YMCA Membership

Presenters: Tanis Cochrane, Chief Operating Officer, and  Candice Goudie, Executive Director for the Calgary Flames Foundation

Partnerships and sponsorships can be a vital component to a charity's funding strategies and when done right, they should elevate program impact and reach and be long-lasting.

In 2014, YMCA Calgary and the Calgary Flames Foundation posed the question: What if all Grade 6 children in Calgary received a free YMCA membership for one year?

In this webinar, we will share our 10-year journey, from the early months of outlining each partner’s expectations and conceptualizing the opportunity to program launch, evaluation, improvement, and redevelopment of concept since it was established. The presenters will share key learnings from this transformational partnership and how this collaboration has impacted their organizations and their focus on impacting the lives of youth. The session will also highlight the program components and 10-year impact.
